Snowplow Naming Contest School Winners


We partnered with Manhattan Catholic Schools and elementary schools from USD 383 to help name a portion of our snowplow fleet. Below are the winning names submitted by students!

For some schools, the naming activity also served as a persuasive writing project—students wrote arguments explaining why their suggested names should be selected.

Because the name is fun and funny it also reminds me of the dog that bit me I also think people will think it’s funny. And I like the name. And plus, dogs love snow, so it only makes sense.

The Blizzard of Oz - Will STR Elementary winners

What is a great name for a snowplow? The Blizzard of Oz! In my opinion one of the snowplows should be named the Blizzard of Oz. 

This should be a snowplows name because it has the word blizzard in it and blizzards equal snow. Second it should be named the Blizzard of Oz is because the wizard of Oz is a very popular movie so I think people will like it. That is the first reason of why I think one of the snowplows should be name The Blizzard of Oz. 

The second reason is because every time there is a blizzard it comes and scoops all the snow away. Second I want one of the snowplows to be named The Blizzard of Oz is because people will like it more than most of the other names. Lastly there are a lot of actors in the Wizard of Oz and I think they will like it. That is the second reason a snowplow should be named  the Blizzard of Oz.

It should be named The Blizzard of Oz because it has blizzard in it and a blizzard makes snow. And every time a blizzard comes it scoops all the snow away. I really hope you name one of the snowplows The Blizzard of Oz.

Luke Snow-Walker - Kat RBergman Elementary winners

Do you like Star Wars? Then I think you should name a snow plow Luke snow Walker. I believe that the name Luke snow walker is  famous to name a snow plow in Manhattan because star war is amazing and doesn’t everybody like something about Star Wars.

Luke Skywalker is a famous Star Wars Character and snow is also pretty famous so super famous name. Also Luke Skywalker is a hero and a snow plow is a hero. The reason I say they are heroes is because Luke Skywalker saved the world and if we didn’t have snow plows then we couldn’t get to important places because they clear out snow. And that is why I think a snow plow should be named Luke snow walker

Also Luke Skywalker is a role model wouldn’t you want a snow plow named after a role model? I would. So Luke Skywalker is a role model I say this because he saved the world from a Death Star. I think  he’s hero material and role model material. So he is a role model for saving the earth and he destroyed Darth Vader and storm troopers. Those are my reasons on why a snow plow should be named Luke Snow Walker and that Luke Skywalker was a good person. So please consider choosing Luke snow walker for one of the 13 snow plows. 

Baby Snowda - Yigithan C

And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for… Baby Snowda!

 Baby Snowda would be a good name because, Snowda sounds like Yoda and people like Baby Yoda. Another reason is that Yoda is a master and the driver is like the master of the Snowplow.   

I think that Baby Snowda would be a magnificent name, because it sounds like Yoda and people like Baby Yoda. I think this because Yoda is from Star Wars and Star Wars is popular. Another detail is that people think Yoda is cute. That is why I think Snowda sounding like Yoda is great.  

Another reason is snowplows clear snow. Snowda has the word Snow in it. Having the word Snow is important, because clearing snow is a snowplows job.   That’s why Baby Snowda would be a good name. 

I hope you select the name Baby Snowda for one of the thirteen Snowplows.

Snowflake - Daemon L

Did you ever know that one snow flake can change a kid’s life? A snowplow could change a lot of lives cause it moves the snowplow moves snow. I think we should choose this name cause Snowflake is a really good name. It’ll teach people that they need to shovel their snow in the driveway. 

The snowplow should be called Snowflake cause it can pick up snowflakes on the ground. This is funny cause the snowflakes are delicate but the machine is so strong that it can handle them all. And it would be cool cause it would remind the people to shovel their snow and it would be cool seeing a machine pick up snow flakes. And when people are interested at something they will likely spend money on it. 

We should name it Snowflake cause the snowplow picks up millions of snowflakes. So they should pick snowflake because we never get to barely ever see snowflakes. If the snowplow doesn’t get much liking even though they have to get up super early. And my reason is good cause I think so and cause I will let people choose and if they don’t pick it I’ll be okay. 

This is the best name so we should really choose it and it would be a really good name for it cause snowflakes and snowplows are the best. This will say that we will remember the name easier and we will have to be kind and polite.

It’s our 24/7 service “the collector”!it’s called this because people can collect just about anything! cookies, chocolate, books, and more! Manhattan needs more people shoveling snow! We can help by plowing! Our goal is to clear up all the snow in Manhattan! “The Collector(tm)” can do that!

It needs to be called “The Collector" because it collects snow. It is very strong, too! And, it works 24/7, forever, day and night!

Also, because it collects snow and goes on a conveyor belt then through a pipe. Wanna know how it works? There are scoops that put it on the conveyor belt. Then, it shoots through a pipe! This is the type of snowplow I want.

Overall, it collects snow, it is very strong, and it works 24/7!
